Google: In Real Time... Give It a Go!

In Real Time... Give It a Go!

Want real-time content from across the web?  Give Google's latest feature Realtime a Go!  Google first rolled out its real-time search feature in December 2009 as an "Updates" option on the sidebar in the main Google search. As of August 26, 2010, Realtime now has its own page plus some new enhancements: Geographic Search, Conversation View, and Google Alerts.

This week, I started trying out Google's real-time search tool for the first time. Google Realtime search brings the most current information to its users within seconds, an improvement from traditional search indexing methods. In a matter of seconds, I had access to relevant news, blog posts, comments and updates - across real-time sites like Twitter, FriendFeed, and Facebook. Great for up-to-the-second information on hot topics!

Check out this video on How to use Realtime Search!

Now give it a go and let me know what you think!

Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe (September 3 - 18, 2010)

Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe (September 3 - 18, 2010): Enjoy performing artists from Philly and around the world!  The Somers Team shares their picks!

Fringe is Back for Fall

Via Christopher and Stephanie Somers - Realtors - Philadelphia Real Estate (Owner - RE/MAX Access):

Oh no, not that fringe. Fringe is something entirely different in Philadelphia. Live Arts and Fringe Festival is one of those yearly events that is so inherently Philadelphian that you can't help but love it, hate it, and be confounded by it all at the same time. You go to a bunch of shows that are mind-blowing that showcase some of the city's greatest talents (and some visiting performers from around the world). You take in at least two performances that you consider skipping out on halfway through but then you end up staying because it's actually kind of interesting once you give it a chance. And then there is that one event that you simply just do not understand and feel slightly and wonderfully disturbed by it for several days.

This is Live Arts and Fringe. This is what it's about. This is Philadelphia.

2010's roster of events gives us some neighborhood-specific action and since we are downright neighborhood-obsessed, we are focusing on these picks. If you read our blog often, you know that we try not to leave the many neighborhoods of Philadelphia uncovered. We snap photos, we poke around in the local coffeeshops, and we get to know the most hidden crevices, the fringe, as you would, of Philadelphia.

Without further ado, we present to your our Neighborhood Live Arts/Fringe Picks, from September 3 - 18:

If you're in Kensington... Check out the Cheap Guy HOF, Class of 2010, in one of Kensington's newest spaces, the Papermill Theater. The series of short plays is put on by Hella Fresh Theatre. The show opens on Saturday, September 4 and runs every Saturday and Sunday throughout the Philly Fringe. Papermill Community for the Arts, 2825 Ormes Street, Kensington. Times vary, $10. Try Fresh Juice at the Mascher Space Co-op. Sept. 5-6, Sept. 11. $10

Find yourself in the Fringe hotbed of Northern Liberties? Take part in AFOOT: Northern Liberties, a walking tour with the neighborhood set as a "game board", you'll be given a series of clues that your team will have to solve for prizes and swag. Saturday, September 4, and Saturday, September 11, from 11 - 3pm. Teams leave every 10 minutes, $10.

Nothing good on TV in your South Philly rowhome? The Real Housewives of South Philly will perk you up. The Waitstaff Sketch Comedy Troupe does not disappoint. Sept. 5, 8, 12,14, 16, 19. $15.

Near the Schuylkill River Trail? Constants, from Movement Brigade, explores the history of Philadelphia as the Schuylkill River remains the same. Sept 13-18, free, reservations required.

Are you a Poe fan lurking near Callowhill? There are two options for you. The Mutter Museum will be showing the Tell-Tale Heart from the aptly named Nevermore Theatre Project on Saturday, September 4, and September 11, and Sunday, September 12. $10. Or you can try Edgar Allan Poe Comes Alive! at 1831 Brandywine St. from Traveling Jones Theater. Sept. 3-4 and Sept. 17-18, $14.

Stretching Out West?

Whose City? from the Media Mobilizing Project Art & Culture Collective is a collage of art, poetry, and music, inspired by the people that live, work, and play in Philadelphia. Sept. 3-4, Sept. 10-11. $5.

Letitia Stevenson - Putting Your Best Interest Ahead of the Transaction!

Letitia Stevenson - Putting Your Best Interest Ahead of the Transaction!

"...  If you want a Realtor that believes in putting your best interest ahead of the transaction, you should definitely consider Letitia Stevenson, I am sure you will be glad you did, just as I was"

~ T. Robinson (Delaware)

Today, I received the below testimonial from a client I recently assisted with buying a home. This really touched me because getting the sale to a successful completion in such a difficult situation was truly challenging. I credit the success of this sale in part due to the fact that I educated my client about the home buying process, as well as his options - empowering him to make informed decisions throughout the transaction. As a result, he was quite prepared when dealing with the tough negotiations, and ultimately he got both the deal and the home that he wanted. It's truly rewarding.

"When I began to become curious with purchasing a home, I knew I was ill-equipped to make such a major purcLetitia Stevensonhase without the assistance of a highly qualified and skilled Realtor.  I received recommendations from a few friends and family members, however when I asked for some in-depth background about the recommendations, I felt they were given as a favor to the person and not necessarily the best choice for my transaction.  I began researching the internet for information on home buying and came across a well written blog by Letitia Stevenson.  I set up an initial consultation with Letitia and became a client the same day.

During the process of touring homes and the home searching process, Letitia was very thorough and concerned.  She put me ahead of the transaction and I was assured she had my best interest at hand.  Letitia believes in the total process of matching the homebuyer with the home of their choice.  She reminds me of a well qualified attorney that is fighting for a good outcome for her client. Letitia made the process from home shopping to home ownership a smooth transition.  If you want a Realtor that believes in putting your best interest ahead of the transaction, you should definitely consider Letitia Stevenson, I am sure you will be glad you did, just as I was."    ~ T. Robinson (Delaware)

Tim, Thank you so very much for your wonderful testimonial. Once again, Congratulations on Your New Home! May all the good things of life move right with you to your new home... bringing you joy, happiness, good times, and fond memories, too.  Your RE Agent for Life, Letitia

RAPPORT BUILDING:...Nothing Else Can Do More For Building Your Business!!!

Building rapport with customers and clients is an essential business skill. Building rapport means building relationships -- especially one of mutual understanding or trust. People like to do business with people they like and trust!

For many, building rapport is easier said than done?! Paula Hathaway offers some valuable points!

Via Paula Hathaway (Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate):

RAPPORT BUILDING ....Nothing else can do more for building your business!!! It is the one area that most RE professionals neglect. Most don't understand how critical rapport building is in the early stages of a business relationship. It willmake the difference between making a sale and losing one; ..will make the difference between getting that great listing or losing it to the next agent who HAS taken the time to build rapport.THINK ABOUT YOUR PAST SUCCESSES

CHARM-- If you take a look at the most successful people in real estate, charm often comes to mind. Charming people are open and have a presence that is dominant but not overbearing. Charm is a natural part of a successful persons persona because it is at the foundation of "Rapport building".

CONFIDENCE--Charm comes from confidence and confidence is an earned attribute  and comes only after many losses and many lessons in life itself. Confidence is a place where we as humans can hope for--"I wish I had more confidence!" is a common lament I hear in the world of selling real estate---Well, look back on your life and you will find those times where your confidence was evident!  Take that time and that feeling and duplicate it as many times as you possibly can; use it until confidence is well established in your self-presentation....YOU HAVE EARNED IT!!!

ENGAGING BEHAVIORENGAGE--If you do not feel a connection with a new client, chances are you will not have any success with selling them anything either!  Your ability to draw people into your "sphere" is dependent upon your ability to engage them--in conversation, in your ideas, and in your whole approach to selling and/or listing properties!

REMEMBER: Rapport building is the most important part of building your business.

If you don't have "RAPPORT" you don't have anything!!!
